Job summary

Luzerne County Community College is seeking a part-time, hourly staff member to assist with SHINE programming at the center after the school day ends. You will support instruction, dinner service, homework completion, and enrichment activities while fostering a positive environment.

You will also help with character development, relationship-building, and ongoing student evaluation, and you must enforce behavior policies and participate in monthly Family Nights and required staff meetings.

Qualifications

  • High School Graduate for the role.
  • Minimum one year of experience in a school setting preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with daily instruction at assigned center for 3 hours after school.
  • Support SHINE program activities including dinner service and homework help.
  • Engage in character development, relationship-building, cultural enrichment and recreation.
  • Enforce SHINE Behavior Policy and notify Lead Teacher of issues with documentation.
  • Attend mandatory staff meetings and monthly Family Nights.
  • Assist with student evaluations.

Job description

Limited hourly contract not to exceed 500 hours for a contract year; working hours are Monday through Thursday for 3 hours per day after the conclusion of the standard school day at the center; assist with daily instruction at assigned center for 3 hours of SHINE; assist with dinner service and support homework completion assistance, character development, relationship-building, cultural enrichment, recreational activities, and service-learning opportunities into daily programming; assist with enforcement of the SHINE Behavior Policy and notify Lead Teacher if any behavioral issues arise providing documentation; participate in mandatory staff meetings as scheduled; attend and assist with monthly Family Nights; assist with student evaluations.Non-Essential Position Duties and ResponsibilitiesOther related duties as assigned.Luzerne County Community College (hereinafter referred to as the 'College') is committed to a work, academic and public environment in which all individuals are treated with respect and dignity.
