Job summary

Southeastern Freight Lines is hiring a PT Outbound Freight Handler in Greenville, SC. You will load and unload freight, inspect trailers, and ensure safe handling and proper paperwork for shipments.

The role emphasizes safety, equipment operation, and accurate documentation, with a second shift schedule and pay between $18.10 and $21.60 per hour. Candidates should have a HS diploma and be able to pass background and drug tests.

Qualifications

• They prefer a High School Diploma or GED and the ability to pass a background check and drug test.
• Prior experience as Forklift Operator, Dock or Warehouse Worker, or Material Handler is favored.
• A Forklift Certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload freight onto and off of equipment.
• Assist in recouping damaged freight.
• Prepare, sweep, inspect and clean trailers before loading freight.
• Use safe lifting techniques to load/unload freight.
• Select and use proper freight handling equipment (forklifts, hand trucks, pallet jacks, etc.).
• Weigh and dimension shipments for classification and safe handling.
• Plan cube utilization and weight distribution when loading freight.
• Count and inspect freight, document shortages or damage.
• Review freight bills for special instructions and check manifests against bills.
• Verify hazardous material descriptions and proper placarding; ensure correct paperwork.
• Block and brace freight to prevent shifting during transport.
