Job summary

College of the Mainland in Texas City, TX is seeking a part-time, non-exempt administrative support position to assist the Upward Bound program. Responsibilities include planning, organizing, and coordinating program activities and travel, budgeting, and acting as a liaison among students, staff, and the College.

The ideal candidate will have an Associate degree in Business Administration or equivalent, TRiO background, strong record-keeping skills, and the ability to multi-task and meet

Responsibilities

  • Performs specialized administrative support to the Director related to planning, organizing, and coordinating program activities and travel
  • Assists Director and staff in accounting for program funds, preparing financial requisitions, and general office support
  • Enters, reviews, and retrieves data and prepares reports using computer software
  • Handle confidential information appropriately and safeguard information
  • Serves as a liaison between students, staff, the community, and the College in relation to the program and its activities
  • Identify students’ needs prior to directing them to the appropriate faculty or staff member
  • Willingness to help students interact with the College and its employees
  • Arranges meetings and appointments, reserves rooms, and coordinates meals and lodging when needed
  • Attend virtual trainings/webinars regarding TRIO programs policies and budget management

Job description

Responsible for providing a variety of administrative support duties to ensure the success of planning, organizing, and executing the operations of day-to-day program services of Upward Bound.

Job Duties
  • Performs specialized administrative support to the Director related to the planning, organizing, and coordinating of program activities and travel
  • Assists Director and/or other departmental staff in accounting for program funds, performance standards, as well as preparing financial requisitions, and general office support.
  • Enters, reviews, and retrieves data and prepares reports, using computer software.
  • Handle confidential information appropriately and exercise care in safeguarding information.
  • Serves as a liaison between students, staff, the community, and the College in relation to the program and its activities.
  • Ability to identify students’ needs prior to directing them to the appropriate faculty or staff member.
  • Willingness to help students enjoy their interactions with the College and its employees.
  • Arranges meetings and appointments by securing and reserving rooms with notifications and courtesy reminders; secure meal and lodging reservations and deposits.
  • Attend various virtual trainings/webinars regarding TRIO programs policies: Evaluation, Recordkeeping and Reporting Student/Project Performance and Budget Management and Statutory/Regulatory Requirements, along with any applicable training provided by the College.

The position requires lifting 15 pounds, the ability to push a cart, and assist with event set-up..
