Job summary

College of the Mainland is seeking tutors to support COM TRIO participants by developing study strategies and personalized tutoring plans. You will deliver content and skill-building sessions, tracking progress and coordinating with training staff.

Ideal candidates have completed at least one year of college, earned A or B in relevant courses, and can clearly explain concepts while adapting to diverse learner needs.

Qualifications

  • Have completed courses for tutoring subjects with a grade of A or B.
  • Must have completed at least one year of college education.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and competence in the subject matter.
  • Be able to explain concepts to others effectively.
  • Effectively communicate study strategies to ensure academic success.
  • Work comfortably with people from diverse backgrounds.

Responsibilities

  • Provide content and skill-development tutoring to students individually or in small groups.
  • Maintain a tutoring schedule as needed.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of tutoring sessions.
  • Attend and complete required tutor training.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all student information and discussions.
  • Perform additional related duties as required.

Job description

Provide tutoring to COM TRIO participants. Offer Assistance with developing study strategies. Work with the student to develop a tutoring plan that fits the student’s academic development. Participate in tutoring training and development sessions.

Job Duties

Provide content and skill-development tutoring to students individually or in small groups. Maintain a tutoring schedule as needed. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of tutoring sessions. Attend and complete required tutor training. Maintain strict confidentiality of all student information, material, and discussions shared in the tutoring relationship. Perform additional related job duties as required.

Physical Requirements

Tutors may be required to travel to local High schools to provide tutoring services.

Minimum Salary Range

Minimum Salary Range $12.50/hour
