Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Phlebotomy training or medical assistant/patient care tech training preferred.
• Previous medical/lab experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs phlebotomy on outpatients and inpatients, including venipuncture, capillary puncture, infant heel sticks and urine collection.
• Tanscribes data into the EMR (EPIC) and may verify patient demographics and insurance information.
• Ensures proper specimen handling, labeling and transport per SOPs.
• Maintains patient confidentiality and HIPAA compliance.
• Assists in training new staff and students and participates in continuing education.
