  • Process routine sales, registrations, equipment checkout, reservations, and other front-desk transactions.
  • Operate access-control, POS, and related systems after training; maintain accurate records.
  • Assist with inventory and restocking as needed; report issues promptly.
  • Maintain cleanliness and professional appearance of the welcome desk and lobby area.
  • Respond to emergencies following established procedures and coordinate with supervisors.

Responsibilities

Position SummaryThe Part-Time Welcome Desk Attendant creates a positive first impression for recreation facility patrons and guests. This role supports access control, answers questions, processes routine transactions and registrations, maintains accurate records, and helps keep the entry and service areas organized, secure, and welcoming.

Essential Duties

  • Greets patrons and guests and provides courteous, accurate, and timely assistance
  • Verifies identification, eligibility, membership, guest, and access information using established procedures
  • Answers telephone, in-person, and approved electronic inquiries and directs complex questions to the appropriate staff member
  • Processes routine sales, registrations, equipment checkout, reservations, and other front-desk transactions as assigned
  • Operates access-control, point-of-sale, recreation management, telephone, and communication systems after training
  • Maintains accurate transaction, access, equipment, lost-and-found, and shift records
  • Operate washing and drying machines to clean facility equipment.
  • Perform routine inspections of equipment for damage or malfunction, reporting any issues to management promptly.
  • Assist with inventory management, including restocking supplies and ordering new equipment when needed
  • Monitors the entry area and promptly reports access concerns, hazards, suspicious activity, or policy violations
  • Explains facility schedules, programs, services, and basic policies using approved information
  • Maintains the cleanliness, organization, security, and professional appearance of the welcome desk, equipment issue and lobby area; Organizes equipment and supplies
  • Responds to emergencies and incidents according to established procedures and provides requested support to on-duty leadership
  • Protects confidential and payment-related information in accordance with established procedures
  • Communicates unresolved patron needs, system issues, and shift follow-up items to the supervisor
  • Attends required training, staff meetings, and emergency drills
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Demonstrated customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Basic computer proficiency and ability to learn recreation management and point-of-sale systems
  • Ability to handle routine transactions accurately and follow cash-handling and information-security procedures Ability to remain composed, organized, and attentive in a busy service environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in customer service, hospitality, recreation, retail, or front-desk operations
  • Experience with access-control, recreation management, registration, or point-of-sale software
  • Current CPR/AED and First Aid certifications
Work Environment and Physical Demands

Work SchedulePart-time schedule with hours varying based on facility operations and welcome-desk coverage needs. Early morning, evening, weekend, holiday, and special event availability may be required.

Work Environment

  • Work is performed in indoor and/or outdoor recreation, aquatic, fitness, customer-service, office, and activity spaces as assigned.
  • The environment may include moderate to loud noise, changing temperatures, humidity, wet surfaces, crowds, and exposure to cleaning products or outdoor weather conditions.
  • The position regularly interacts with patrons, students, guests, coworkers, vendors, and client representatives.
  • Work may occur during early mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events.
  • The work environment described is representative of conditions encountered while performing the essential duties of the position.

Physical Demands

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position and move throughout assigned work areas for varying portions of the shift.
  • Frequently communicates with and exchanges accurate information with patrons, participants, staff, guests, and emergency responders.
  • Frequently uses hands and fingers to operate equipment, computers, radios, telephones, point-of-sale devices, or other tools required by the assignment.
  • Occasionally bends, reaches, kneels, crouches, pushes, pulls, and moves supplies or equipment weighing up to 25 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Frequently remains at or near a service counter and periodically moves through the lobby, entry, and adjacent work areas
  • Frequently operates a computer, telephone, scanner, point-of-sale equipment, and other standard office devices
  • Must be able to respond promptly to emergency situations and perform the essential duties of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.
