Part‑time/Temporary Faculty Position
This position offers flexible hours for instructors who are able to assist adult students in achieving their educational goals. Positions are filled on a temporary, as‑needed basis and applicants should reside within commuting distance to Orange County.
Responsibilities
- Deliver quality instruction in accordance with the established curriculum and course outlines.
- Create and maintain an environment that fosters teaching and learning and encourages free discussion of ideas, interests, and issues.
- Maintain professional conduct and ethical standards.
- Keep current knowledge in the subject matter areas.
- Teach all scheduled classes, which may include day, evening, weekend, online, and/or off‑campus courses.
- Maintain accurate records of teaching activities.
Qualifications
- Minimum Qualifications
- Must meet one of the following:
- a. Valid California Community College instructor credential (issued prior to July 1, 1990).
- b. Master’s degree in Ethnic, African‑American/Black, Latino, La Raza, Chicana/o, Asian‑American, or Native American/ American Indian Studies.
- c. Combination of education and experience equivalent to the above; equivalency applications must be submitted.
- Evidence of sensitivity to, understanding of, and ability to manage a classroom environment that supports students of diverse backgrounds.
- Desirable Qualifications
- Recent community college or lower‑division teaching experience.
- Expertise and professional experience in the field of the course(s) to be taught.
Conditions of Employment
- Part‑time, temporary basis with verification of employment history, background, eligibility to work in the United States, and approval by the Board of Trustees.
- Regular attendance is essential; lack of attendance may result in termination.
- Positions are part of a continuously maintained pool; applications remain in the pool for one year.
- Mandatory reporter requirements under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and Title IX.

Salary
Compensation is based on Lecture Hour Equivalent (LHE) in accordance with the current Part‑Time Faculty Salary Schedule.
