Job description

Part‑time/temporary faculty positions offer flexible hours and the opportunity to assist a diverse group of adult students in achieving their educational goals. These positions are offered in a variety of programs across transfer, general education, vocational and occupational disciplines. Positions are as needed and applicants should live within commuting distance to Orange County.

Performance Responsibilities
  • Provide quality instruction in accordance with established curriculum and course outlines.
  • Create and maintain an environment which emphasizes teaching and learning and encourages free discussion of ideas.
  • Maintain standards of professional conduct and ethics.
  • Maintain current knowledge in the subject matter areas.
  • Fulfill professional responsibilities of a part‑time/temporary faculty member.
  • Teach all scheduled classes.
  • Maintain accurate records.
  • Assignments may include day, evening, weekend, online and/or off‑campus classes.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Must meet one of the following qualifications:
    • a. Valid California Community College instructor credential appropriate to the subject, issued prior to July 1, 1990.
    • b. Master’s degree from an accredited institution in anthropology or archaeology.
    • c. Bachelor’s degree in anthropology or archaeology and a Master’s degree in sociology, biological sciences, forensic sciences, genetics or paleontology from an accredited institution.
    • d. Combination of education and experience equivalent to the above. If applying on the basis of equivalency, a completed Application for Equivalency must be submitted.
  • Evidence of sensitivity to, understanding of, and ability to manage a classroom environment and effectively provide instruction to students from diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender‑identity, sexual‑orientation and ethnic backgrounds.
Conditions of Employment

Employment is part‑time and temporary, contingent upon verification of employment history, background screening under Education Code requirements, eligibility to work in the United States, and approval by the CCCD Board of Trustees. Hours and start date will be discussed with the supervisor.

  • Regular attendance is essential; failure to meet attendance requirements may result in termination.
  • The holder of this position is a mandated reporter under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and must comply with district policies and Title IX.

Salary

Compensation is based on Lecture Hour Equivalent (LHE) according to the current Part‑time Faculty Salary Schedule.
