Primary Purpose

Provide quality customer service within the Center Store (Grocery) Department. Responsible for maintaining standards, maximizing sales through excellent customer service, and minimizing shrink through proper utilization of standard practice.

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Maintain an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer awareness with a focus on fast, friendly, and accurate service to create a positive shopping experience.
2. Be courteous and helpful to other associates.
3. Clean shelves and shelf tag moldings with damp cloth, as needed, when stocking.
4. Maintain shelf allocations by stocking from tag to tag.
5. Place only saleable merchandise on the shelves.
6. Ensure that ordering, receiving, preparation, conditioning, and displaying of merchandise is done according to policies and guidelines.
7. Understand and use company tools such as ACIS and CAO.
8. Adhere to company guidelines, policies, and standard practices.
9. Follow Food Safety and Workplace Safety guidelines and procedures.
10. Observe and correct unsafe conditions to prevent accidents.
11. Report accidents to the Manager on Duty.
12. Ensure compliance with regulations.
13. Wear the Food Lion uniform with a name badge, maintaining a neat appearance.
14. Complete required training courses.
15. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Excellent interpersonal, organizational, communication, and customer service skills.
• Willingness to learn multiple tasks and technical requirements.
• Ability to use technical information to solve problems.
• Meet minimum age requirements.
• Able to meet physical requirements, with or without accommodations.

Physical Requirements

• Use of computers and communication systems.
• Perform repetitive motions.
• Bend and lift up to 50 lbs.
• Pull or push up to 75 lbs. and operate a pallet jack.
• Stand and walk frequently.
• Handle substances related to cleaning, packaging, and produce.
• Handle currency and operate equipment.
• Reach, grasp, and tolerate working in extreme temperatures.
• Visual ability to check documents.
