Job summary

Iowa Western Community College Inc is seeking an Assistant Coach to support the Head Coach in coordinating all phases of a competitive NJCAA Division I athletic program. This role focuses on recruitment, campus visits, communication with prospective student athletes, and ensuring adherence to NJCAA rules.

The position emphasizes organization, coaching during practices, travel supervision, and developing scouting reports for future opponents, in line with conference, regional, and NJCAA

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree or equivalent required.
• 3 years of experience coaching or competing.
• Positive attitude
• Ability to maintain strict confidentiality at all times.
• Self-starter with the ability to perform with little or no direct supervision
• Regular, prompt & reliable attendance
• Ability to pass a background check, have a valid U.S. drivers license and good driving record.

• Recruitment: identify prospective student athletes and establish/maintain communication, conduct effective on-campus visits, demonstrate success with qualified prospective student athletes.
• Organization: organize the program, manage time, perform coaching functions at practices, supervise team travel, scout opponents and provide scouting reports, understand NJCAA requirements regarding meetings, statistics, rosters, schedules and awards.

Job Duties

• Recruitment
  • Identify prospective student athletes and establish and maintain appropriate communication.
  • Conduct effective on-campus visits.
  • Demonstrate success with respect to qualified prospective student athletes.
• Organization
  • Provide effective organization of program and management of time.
  • Perform a variety of coaching functions at all practices.
  • Organization and supervision for team travel.
  • Scouting of all future opponents and providing scouting reports to the team
  • Understand and conference, regional and NJCAA requirements in regard to meetings, statistics, rosters, schedules and awards
