Southwest Virginia Community College ( SWCC ) offers career-training programs in numerous technical, industrial and medical fields at a reasonable cost, going so far as to even waive tuition for certain eligible students. Located in Richlands, Virginia, Southwest offers associate’s degrees in such fields as business, education, general studies, liberal arts and science. These degrees are primarily intended for students who wish to transfer to a four-year university. Southwest also has associate’s degrees that feature programs intended to lead directly to a career in fields such as Nursing, Radiography and Administration of Justice.
Southwest Virginia Community College is seeking a motivated and self-directed individual for the position of Administrative Assistant to support the offices of Admissions, Records, and Accessibility Services. This part-time position will provide excellent customer service to students and prospective students and provide support with the application and enrollment processes. This Administrative Assistant will also assist faculty and staff who have questions related to the admissions and enrollment processes. Duties will also include processing program changes and dual enrollment registrations. This role will also work closely with the Director of Accessibilities with regard to scheduling student appointments, administering course testing with approved test accommodations such as proctored testing and read‑aloud services. This role will mostly serve as a member of the Admissions staff completing enrollment processes. Position may require travel to off‑campus events and/or specialized training.
Instructional faculty must reside in the state of Virginia or be available to teach in‑person classes at Southwest Virginia Community College (Southwest) locations: Main Campus, Lebanon, Bluefield, Southern Gap, or at any assigned location within our service area.
May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
