Job summary

Center for Conscious Alchemy seeks an Internship Program Director to design and lead its graduate training program, linking with Twin Cities programs, supervising interns, and ensuring licensure-ready practice. The role blends program leadership with a reduced clinical caseload to model teaching while maintaining clinical grounding.

You will supervise interns, oversee learning objectives, and ensure alignment with Minnesota licensure requirements and university expectations.

Qualifications

• Master’s or doctoral degree in Counseling, MFT, Social Work or Psychology.
• Active independent Minnesota licensure in LPCC/LMFT/LICSW/LP in good standing.
• Board-approved clinical supervisor status or eligibility within six months.
• Minimum 3–5 years post-licensure clinical practice with trauma-informed care.
• Experience supervising pre-licensed clinicians, students or interns.
• Experience designing or administering a training, practicum or internship program.
• Commitment to equity, inclusion and affirming care for LGBTQIA+, BIPOC and marginalized groups.

Responsibilities

• Own the design and continuous improvement of the internship and practicum program with competency progression.
• Serve as liaison to graduate programs in counseling, MFT, social work, and psychology; manage affiliations.
• Lead intern recruitment cycles: posting, screening, interviewing and matching with supervisors.
• Provide direct individual and group supervision and coordinate the supervision team.
• Ensure interns hours, modality mix and supervision ratios meet licensure requirements.
• Oversee onboarding: EHR training, documentation standards, telehealth workflows, HIPAA compliance.
• Maintain evaluation instruments, mid/end-term reviews, hour logs and remediation plans.
• Collaborate with Clinical Director, Medical Director and psychiatrists for interdisciplinary care.
• Track cohort size, retention, caseload utilization; coordinate scheduling and billing rules.

Job description

Position Summary

The Internship Program Director builds and leads CCA’s graduate training program. This is the pipeline through which the next generation of integrative clinicians learns to practice. You will design the curriculum, own our relationships with graduate programs across the Twin Cities, supervise and evaluate interns, and hold the compliance backbone that keeps the program credible to universities and licensure boards alike.

This is a builder’s role. CCA is formalizing its training infrastructure, and you will have real latitude to shape how it works. That latitude comes with the accountability of being the person who makes sure interns are genuinely supervised, genuinely learning, and genuinely safe to practice. The role pairs program leadership with a reduced direct clinical caseload so that you stay grounded in the work you are teaching.

Key Responsibilities

Care Domain

Own the design and continuous improvement of CCA’s graduate internship and practicum program: learning objectives and a competency-based progression from observation to independent caseload.

University Partnerships

Serve as CCA’s primary liaison to graduate programs in counseling, MFT, social work, and psychology. Negotiate and maintain affiliation agreements, coordinate with faculty liaisons, and represent CCA at practicum fairs and info sessions.

Recruitment & Matching

Manage the annual intern recruitment cycle end to end: posting, screening, interviewing, and matching interns to supervisors and populations based on learning goals and clinic need.

Supervision & Clinical Oversight

Provide direct individual and group supervision to interns, and coordinate the broader supervision team. Ensure every intern’s hours, modality mix, and supervision ratios satisfy their program and Minnesota licensure board requirements.

Onboarding & Readiness

Run intern onboarding: EHR (CHARM) training, documentation and coding standards, telehealth workflows, safety and crisis protocols, HIPAA, and CCA’s model of integrative, equity-centered care.

Evaluation & Compliance

Maintain evaluation instruments, mid and end-of-term reviews, hour logs, and supervision documentation. Keep the program audit-ready for university and board review, and manage remediation plans when a learner is struggling.

Collaborative Care

Partner with the Clinical Director, Medical Director, Clinical Supervisor, and psychiatric providers so interns experience genuinely interdisciplinary care. Integrate interns into consultations and case conferences.

Program Operations & Growth

Track cohort size, retention, supervision capacity, intern caseload utilization, and conversion of interns into licensed CCA clinicians. Partner with operations and billing on scheduling, pre-licensed billing rules, and capacity planning.

Community & Culture

Model and steward CCA’s culture of co-healing. Cultivate a learning environment where trainees can be honest about uncertainty, and where social-justice-informed practice is taught explicitly rather than assumed.

Qualifications

• Education: Master’s or doctoral degree in Counseling, Marriage & Family Therapy, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field.
• Licensure: Active independent licensure in Minnesota (LPCC, LMFT, LICSW, LP) in good standing.
• Supervisor Credential: Board-approved clinical supervisor status in Minnesota, or eligibility to obtain it within six months of being hired.
• Clinical Experience: Minimum 3 to 5 years of post-licensure clinical practice, with a strong foundation in trauma-informed care.
• Supervision Experience: Demonstrated experience supervising pre-licensed clinicians, students, or interns.
• Program Leadership: Experience designing or administering a training, practicum, or internship program, including curriculum, evaluation, and compliance documentation.
• Cultural Humility: Commitment to equity, inclusion, and affirming care for LGBTQIA+ communities, BIPOC, and other marginalized groups, and the ability to teach that stance rather than merely hold it.
• Tech & Documentation: Competency with EHRs (CCA uses CHARM), telehealth platforms, and DSM-5-TR / ICD-10 coding; comfort building and maintaining tracking systems.
• Soft Skills: Strong communication, sound judgment under ambiguity, comfort giving direct developmental feedback, and genuine skill at building relationships across institutions.

Nice to Have

• Experience in ketamine-assisted psychotherapy (KAP), or interest in training and integrating KAP exposure into the internship curriculum.
• Existing relationships with Twin Cities graduate programs (St. Thomas, Adler, St. Kate’s, Augsburg, U of M, Bethel, Capella, Argosy, etc.).
• Familiarity with CACREP, CSWE, or COAMFTE practicum standards.
• Adjunct teaching experience or comfort leading didactic seminars.
• Experience with billing and documentation rules for pre-licensed clinicians in an in-network practice.
• This would be a 1099 contractor position; range commensurate with licensure, supervisory credential, and program leadership experience.
