Psychologist (Remote)

The psychologist performs Medical Disability Examinations (MDE) for veterans when they file disability claims for mental health conditions (e.g., PTSD, Depression, Anxiety) through the Veterans Benefits Administration (VBA) as part of the Compensation and Pension Program. These comprehensive mental health exams include assessments and medical opinions but do not involve treatment.

Key Roles

1. Standard outpatient assessments/evaluations
2. Psychological/Neuropsychological Testing service requests
3. Participate in peer consultations, staff meetings, and training; enter determinations within VA guidelines; perform other duties as assigned
4. Conduct non-MD clinical reviews, including requests for psychological or neuropsychological testing

Responsibilities

1. Perform comprehensive mental health examinations (MDE) for conditions such as PTSD, Depression, MST, Anxiety, Eating Disorders
2. Write medical opinions as the subject matter expert for mental health claims
3. Maintain patient confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA and VA protocols
4. Note: C&P mental health examinations are one-time, no-treatment assessments

Minimum Qualifications

• Licensed doctoral-level (Ph.D. or Psy.D.) Psychologist with current, unrestricted license
• At least 2 years of post-licensure experience
• Proficient with Windows OS, Outlook, Word, Teams, and Excel
• Dedicated secure workspace with high-speed internet access at home
• Graduated from an APA-accredited doctoral program

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in performing C&P exams (training provided)
• Diplomate of the American Board of Professional Psychology (ABPP)
• American Society for Psychology and Behavioral Sciences (ASPPB) Certificate of Professional Qualification (CPQ)
• Experience in managed care, peer reviews, and billing codes (CPT, HCPCS)
• Clinical experience with children, adolescents, substance abuse, and evidence-based treatments
• Advanced computer skills, organizational skills, and ability to work independently

Compensation

$55 per hour
