Job summary

Beth Israel Lahey Health is seeking a Medical Assistant for a Per Diem Day shift in ambulatory settings. The MA will greet and prep patients, take vital signs, assist with EKGs and specimen collection, and ensure rooms are stocked and ready for care.

Under supervision of licensed providers, the role supports documentation in the EMR, patient instructions, scheduling, and referrals. BLS within 6 months is required; MA certification or related degree preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required or equivalent.
• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant training program preferred.
• 0-1 years of related patient care experience preferred or an associate's degree or higher in lieu of MA experience.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 6 months of hire or per department requirement.

Responsibilities

• Greet, room, and prepare patients for visits; record vital signs and intake information.
• Support clinical procedures such as EKGs, specimen collection, and point-of-care testing.
• Maintain clean, stocked exam rooms and ensure accurate EMR documentation.
• Assist with scheduling, check-in, referrals, and patient instructions as needed.
• Communicate effectively with providers, patients, and team members about delays or follow-ups.
