Job summary

LeoForce in Los Angeles is seeking a Senior Psychiatrist to assess patients, diagnose mental disorders, prescribe treatments, document encounters, and conduct regular follow-up appointments.

You will develop treatment plans, monitor progress, collaborate with primary care physicians, therapists, nurses, and other health care providers, and ensure high-quality care.

Qualifications

• Completion of psychiatry residency in an ACGME-approved program.
• Current BC/BE in Psychiatry (ABPN).
• Valid California MD/DO license and active DEA certificate.
• Strong advocacy, time management, and communication skills.
• CPR/First Aid certification is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Develops treatment plans and prescribes psychotropic medications.
• Monitors and evaluates treatment results.
• Evaluates clients through interviews, exams, and tests.
• Treats clients with psychotherapy and medications, documents progress.
• Collaborates with primary care, therapists, nurses, and other providers.

Job Summary

The Psychiatrist will be responsible for assessing patients, diagnosing or ruling out mental disorders, prescribing treatments, documenting encounters and services, and conducting regular follow-up appointments to monitor the clients' progress.

Key Responsibilities

• Develops treatment plans by determining the nature and extent of psychiatric disorders and establishing treatment goals and methodologies, including prescription of psychotropic medications.
• Monitors and evaluates treatment results.
• Evaluates clients by interviewing client, family, and other persons; conducting physical examinations; observing behaviors; reviewing medical history and related documents; selecting, administering, and interpreting psychological tests; and ordering laboratory tests and evaluating results.
• Treats clients by utilizing psychotherapeutic methods and medications; discussing progress toward goals with clients; providing instructions; and monitoring effect of medications.
• Maintains interdisciplinary treatment by reviewing treatment plans and progress, and consulting and collaborating with primary care physicians, mental health therapists, nurses, and other health care providers.
• Assures quality and safe service for clients and staff by participating in utilization reviews; and remaining available for emergency consultations.
• Improves staff competence by providing discussions regarding the interrelationship between psychosocial and physiological problems, psychotropic medications, crisis intervention, and related issues.
• Maintains historical records by documenting symptoms, medications, and treatment events and writing summaries.
• Completes communications and forms in regards to client cases as necessary by social services and other pertinent agencies.
• Updates job knowledge by participating in continuing medical educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, and participating in professional organizations.

Required Qualifications

• Completion of a psychiatry residency or a combined family medicine/psychiatry residency in an ACGME-approved residency program
• Current BC/BE in Psychiatry (American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology)
• Valid state Medical license as MD/DO
• Valid DEA certificate
• Strong understanding of advocacy and the role it plays in mental health
• Detail-oriented with excellent time management, organizational, written, verbal, interpersonal, and computer skills
• Able to obtain and maintain CPR/First Aid certification

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge and experience in chemical dependency and substance abuse treatment
• Knowledge of Medi-Cal documentation and requirements
• Bilingual Spanish
