Job description

Position Title: Psychiatrist

Salary Range: $190-$210 per hour / $395,200 - $436,800 / Year, DOE

This is an opportunity for a Psychiatrist who wants their work to reach people who are too often missed by traditional healthcare models. Working within a highly collaborative community-based program, the Psychiatrist will provide psychiatric assessment, medication management, and ongoing care for adults experiencing complex mental health conditions, substance use disorders, housing instability, and other barriers to accessing consistent treatment. Rather than expecting every client to walk into an office, this team brings care directly into the community and meets people where they are. The ideal candidate is calm, adaptable, and deeply empathetic, with the clinical confidence to navigate complex situations without bringing ego into the room. They will value the expertise of therapists, nurses, case managers and other members of the care team and genuinely believe that the strongest outcomes happen when everyone works together.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive psychiatric assessments to identify client needs, diagnoses, and appropriate treatment plans
  • Prescribe and manage psychiatric medications while educating clients, addressing concerns and helping individuals understand the importance of treatment
  • Provide ongoing psychiatric care to an established adult client population through regular consultations and follow-up
  • Meet clients in community-based settings including offices, homes, shelters, supportive living environments and other locations where care can be delivered effectively
  • Collaborate closely with therapists, nurses, case managers, client advocates and other professionals assigned to each client
  • Participate in daily and weekly consultations, interdisciplinary meetings, documentation and other administrative responsibilities required to coordinate client care
  • Evaluate clients when appropriate to determine whether probable cause exists to initiate detention under WIC 5150
Requirements
  • MD with completion of a residency approved by an American Specialty Board in psychiatry or equivalent formally recognized training
  • Current California Physician and Surgeon's Certificate
  • Valid DEA license with authorization to prescribe medication
  • Current REMS certification to prescribe Clozapine
  • Current California driver's license with a driving record acceptable to the organization’s insurance carrier
  • Ability to maintain professional liability insurance and required criminal, child abuse, and other applicable clearances
  • Willingness and ability to provide hands-on, community-based psychiatric care rather than working exclusively in a traditional office or telehealth environment
  • Bilingual English/Spanish skills and previous community mental health experience are strongly preferred
Benefits
  • 403(b) retirement plan with employer matching
  • Medical, dental, and vision coverage with dependent coverage available
  • Employee assistance program, flexible spending account, and life insurance
  • Generous PTO program with accrual beginning on day one, paid sick leave, three paid personal days and 11 paid holidays
  • Professional development assistance and tuition reimbursement
  • Company vehicle access and/or mileage reimbursement for required community-based travel
