Qualifications

  • Board-eligible for General Psychiatry with residency completed.
  • Active CA MD/DO license, DEA registration for controlled substances.
  • Board certification (or eligible) in Psychiatry; bilingual in Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform intake and diagnostic interviews on a scheduled and emergent basis.
  • Participate in diagnostic staff evaluation of clients.
  • Provide medical psychiatric treatment to clients.
  • Maintain and disseminate medical records per HIPAA and HITECH rules.
  • Submit required statistics and information promptly.
  • Consult with other agencies coordinating behavioral health services.
  • May serve on Utilization Review or Medication Review committees.

Salary Ranges:

Psychiatrist I: $234,898.25 - $299,796.51/annually

Psychiatrist II: $259,283.92 - $330,919.11/annually

THE POSITION

Tri-City is looking for individuals to serve as a Psychiatrist I/II for the Adult Outpatient Clinic/AdultFull Service Partnership (FSP) Department. The Psychiatrist I/II will provide medical and psychiatric treatment anddiagnostic services to clients in the caseload of Tri-City and provide collaborative work with a multidisciplinary team in a public mental health agency. Provide integrated, effective, and high-quality behavioral health care to the residents of Pomona, Claremont and La Verne with moderate to severe functional impairment due to mental illness.

This position is responsible for a variety of ongoing responsibilities including, but not limited to:

  • Perform intake and diagnostic interviews on a scheduled and emergent basis.
  • Participate in diagnostic staff evaluation of clients.
  • Provide medical psychiatric treatment of clients.
  • Maintain and disseminate medical records and reports in compliance with Federal, State and Agency regulations, including Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and The Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health Act, Public Law 111-005 (“HITECH Act”).
  • Submit required statistical and other requested information on a timely basis.
  • Consult and provide information to other agencies that are coordinating their work with that of the behavioral health service agency.
  • May serve on Utilization Review Committee, Medication Review Committee, and chair Peer Review Committee as assigned.
  • May conduct specialized research, special studies, and services.
  • Provide medical consultative services to the behavioralhealth services staff; lead team conferences and provide clinical direction in unit(s) to which assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Ideal Candidate

QUALIFICATIONS

Psychiatrist I:

Board Eligible for General Psychiatry and successful completion of a Psychiatry Residency Program

Psychiatrist II:

Active and current board certification issued by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in at least one of the Board’s recognized specialties or subspecialties (e.g., general psychiatry, child and adolescent psychiatry, geriatric psychiatry, forensic psychiatry, addiction psychiatry, psychosomatic medicine, etc.) and successful completion of a general psychiatry residency program; OR: Board eligible (not certified) Psychiatrists having completed their residencies prior to October 1, 1994 and possess 15 years or more of paid work experience following successful completion of the probationary period as Psychiatrist I with the Center.

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION:

Physicians and Surgeons Certificate to practice medicine in the State of California (MD/DO), which is unrestricted and registration with DEA for controlled substances. Board certification or Board Eligible in the area of Child and Adolescents, Addictions, or Geriatrics, as appropriate.

Preferred Candidates will possess:

Two (2) years of experience in a community mental health setting; basic computer skills; knowledge of Electronic Health Records (EHR) and will be bilingual in Spanish. Prior experience working with Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health (DMH) documentation is highly desired.
