Job summary

Universal Health Services, Inc. in Fargo, ND is seeking a Board-Certified or Board-Eligible General Psychiatrist to join our acute inpatient behavioral health team.

You will perform comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and daily care for hospitalized patients. The role requires an MD or DO, an unrestricted North Dakota license and a current DEA certificate, with inpatient experience and strong collaboration with a multidisciplinary team to ensure safe discharge planning.

Qualifications

• MD or DO from an accredited medical school.
• Board Certification or Board Eligibility in General Psychiatry.
• Active North Dakota medical license or eligibility, and current DEA certificate.
• Inpatient psychiatry experience preferred; strong interdisciplinary collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and treat a wide spectrum of acute psychiatric conditions.
• Prescribe and manage psychotropic medications, monitor efficacy and side effects.
• Conduct daily clinical rounds and comprehensive psychiatric assessments for newly admitted patients.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary care team (nursing, social work, therapy, and APPs).
• Participate in active treatment planning and safe, comprehensive discharge coordination.
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation in health records.

• Diagnose and treat a wide spectrum of acute psychiatric conditions, including mood disorders, schizophrenia, severe anxiety, and co-occurring substance use disorders.
• Prescribe and manage psychotropic medications, regularly evaluating efficacy, adjusting dosages, and monitoring for side effects or drug interactions.
• Conduct daily clinical rounds and comprehensive psychiatric assessments for newly admitted patients.
• Collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary care team (nursing, social work, therapy, and APPs).
• Participate in active treatment planning and safe, comprehensive discharge coordination.
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation in health records
