Prairie St. John's in Fargo, ND is seeking a compassionate, board-certified/board-eligible Psychiatrist to join our acute care behavioral health team. You will conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, manage medications, and provide daily patient care in a multidisciplinary setting.

The role emphasizes collaboration with nursing, social work, therapy, and APPs, active treatment planning, safe discharge coordination, and precise documentation to support high-quality outcomes.

Qualifications

• MD or DO from an accredited medical school.
• Board certified or board eligible in general psychiatry.
• Active or eligible for unrestricted North Dakota medical license with DEA certificate.
• Inpatient psychiatric experience and strong interdisciplinary collaboration preferred.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and treat a wide spectrum of acute psychiatric conditions, including mood disorders, schizophrenia, severe anxiety, and co-occurring substance use disorders.
• Prescribe and manage psychotropic medications, assess efficacy, adjust dosages, and monitor for side effects or interactions.
• Conduct daily clinical rounds and comprehensive psychiatric assessments for newly admitted patients.
• Collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary care team including nursing, social work, therapy and APPs.
• Participate in active treatment planning and safe, comprehensive discharge coordination.
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation in health records.
