Job summary

Harris Health System in Houston, TX seeks a Psychiatric Technician II to support patient care under RN supervision in a busy behavioral health setting. The role requires teamwork with charge and staff nurses to ensure safety and care standards are met.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma, SAMA and Psychiatric Technician I certifications, BLS from AHA, and at least two years of related clinical experience. EKG/Phlebotomy skills are valued and training is provided if needed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• SAMA certification required; Psychiatric Technician I certification required and maintained as appropriate.
• BLS from a hospital-based American Heart Association (AHA) approved program.
• Two years related clinical experience required in behavioral health setting.
• EKG and/or Phlebotomy competency validation required, as applicable to specialty area within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• The Psych Tech II supports care activities for patients with mental or behavioral health problems under the supervision of a registered nurse.
• Works closely with the charge nurse and staff nurses to assure patient care and safety needs are met.
• The Psych Tech II demonstrates and role models personal and professional effectiveness.
