Job summary

Harris Health is seeking a Psychiatric Technician I to support care activities for patients with mental or behavioral health problems under the supervision of a registered nurse. The role collaborates closely with the charge nurse and nursing staff to meet patient care and safety needs.

The ideal candidate has basic medical terminology knowledge, solid communication skills, and competence with standard PC tools. Certification in SAMA and BLS are preferred, with weekend and holiday work expected.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• SAMA certification required within 90 days of hire.
• Psychiatric Technician I certification preferred.
• Basic Life Support (AHA) required.
• One year related clinical experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supports care activities for patients with mental or behavioral health problems under RN supervision.
• Works with the charge nurse and staff nurses to assure patient care and safety needs are met.
• Demonstrates knowledge of medical and behavioral health terminology and possesses technical, communication, organizational, and computer skills.
• Demonstrates personal and professional effectiveness.
