Job summary

Harris Health System in Houston is seeking a Psychiatric Technician II to support care activities for patients with mental or behavioral health problems under the supervision of a registered nurse.

The Psych Tech II works closely with the charge nurse and staff nurses to assure patient care and safety needs are met. The role requires proficiency in medical and behavioral health terminology, communication, organizational, and computer skills.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required; additional training appropriate to the specialty area.
• EKG and/or Phlebotomy competency validation required within 6 months of hire.
• Other certificates as required by unit/service.
• Two (2) years related clinical experience in behavioral health setting.
• Licensure/Certification: SAMA certification and Psychiatric Technician I certification required; Basic Life Support.
• Work Experience: 2 years in behavioral health setting.

Responsibilities

• Support care activities for patients with mental or behavioral health problems under the supervision of a registered nurse.
• Work closely with the charge nurse and staff nurses to ensure patient care and safety needs are met.
