Job summary

PrimeCare Medical is seeking a Psychiatric Technician to work in the Chester County Prison in West Chester, PA. This is a Monday–Friday, 40-hour-per-week position during normal business hours (8:00am–4:30pm).

You will support behavioral health services, coordinate treatment, monitor inmates, document in the EMR, participate in committees, and maintain confidentiality.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling or related Human Services with mental health coursework.
• Minimum of one year clinical experience preferred.
• Maintain confidentiality at all times.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and implement the behavioral health program in accordance with applicable standards.
• Engage inmates/patients in psycho-educational groups and individual encounters.
• Assist in suicide prevention by reporting concerns to supervisory staff.
• Assist in coordination of admission and placement in forensic/community facilities.
• Document clinical services in the electronic medical record accurately and timely.
• Monitor inmates/patients on segregation units and track supplies.
• Obtain releases to request and obtain records from prior treatment providers.
• Serve on committees within the medical unit and facility as needed.
• Participate in in-service education programs and maintain confidentiality.

PrimeCare Medical is currently looking for a Psychiatric Technician to work in the medical department at the Chester County Prison in West Chester, PA.

This is a Monday - Friday position, 40 hours per week, during normal business hours. (8:00am-4:30pm).

Job Responsibilities:

The psychiatric technician is responsible for assisting in the coordination and implementation of the behavior health program.

Other duties include:

• Responsible for the clinical monitoring, coordination, and implementation of the behavioral health program in accordance with NCCHC/ACA/MCCS Standards.


• Engage inmates/patients in psycho-educational groups and individual encounters, with a focus on seriously mentally ill patients/inmates.


• Actively assist with the detection and prevention of inmate/patient suicide by reporting concerns to supervisory staff


• Assist in the coordination of the admission and placement of certified inmates/patients in forensic and community behavioral health facilities. Initiate the paperwork required for the inmates/patient’s admission.


• Document clinical services provided in the electronic medical record in a complete, accurate and timely manner.


• Monitor inmates/patients on segregation units; particularly those identified as seriously mentally ill.


• Monitor and track supplies required to provide services.


• Obtain releases from patients to request and obtain records from patient’s previous treatment providers.


• Serve as a member of various committees within the medical unit and facility, as necessary.


• Participate in all in-service education programs according to the annual in-service calendar.


• Maintain confidentiality at ALL times.


• Any/all other duties and responsibilities as assigned or delegated.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or other related Human Services degrees with a concentration in mental health course work is required.


• A minimum of one (1) year clinical experience is preferred.
