Job summary

PrimeCare Medical is seeking a Psychiatric Technician to join the medical department at the Berks County Jail in Leesport, PA. This full-time, on-site role runs Monday through Friday, 8:00am–4:30pm, with a pay rate of $21.00–$23.00 per hour.

Responsibilities include coordinating and implementing the behavioral health program, engaging inmates in psycho-educational groups and individual encounters, and supporting suicide prevention and clinical documentation in the electronic medical record.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related human services field is required.
• Clinical experience is preferred (1 year).
• Experience with behavioral health services is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and implement the behavioral health program per NCCHC/ACA/MCCS standards.
• Engage inmates in psycho-educational groups and individual encounters.
• Assist in suicide prevention by reporting concerns to supervision.
• Coordinate admission/placement of inmates in forensic and community facilities; initiate paperwork.
• Document clinical services in the EMR accurately and timely.
• Monitor inmates on segregation units, especially seriously mentally ill.
• Maintain supplies and request records from previous providers.
• Serve on medical unit/facility committees and participate in in-service education.
• Maintain confidentiality at all times and perform other duties as assigned.

PrimeCare Medical is currently looking for a Psychiatric Technician to work in the medical department at the Berks County Jail in Leesport, PA.

This is a Full-Time Monday - Friday position working on-site 8:00am-4:30pm. Offering $21.00- $23.00/hr.

Job Responsibilities:

The psychiatric technician is responsible for assisting in the coordination and implementation of the behavior health program.

Other duties include:

• Responsible for the clinical monitoring, coordination, and implementation of the behavioral health program in accordance with NCCHC/ACA/MCCS
  Standards.
• Engage inmates/patients in psycho-educational groups and individual encounters, with a focus on seriously mentally ill patients/inmates.
• Actively assist with the detection and prevention of inmate/patient suicide by reporting concerns to supervisory staff
• Assist in the coordination of the admission and placement of certified inmates/patients in forensic and community behavioral health facilities. Initiate the paperwork required for the inmates/patient’s admission.
• Document clinical services provided in the electronic medical record in a complete, accurate and timely manner.
• Monitor inmates/patients on segregation units; particularly those identified as seriously mentally ill.
• Monitor and track supplies required to provide services.
• Obtain releases from patients to request and obtain records from patient’s previous treatment providers.
• Serve as a member of various committees within the medical unit and facility, as necessary.
• Participate in all in-service education programs according to the annual in-service calendar.
• Maintain confidentiality at ALL times.
• Any/all other duties and responsibilities as assigned or delegated

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or other related Human Services degrees with a concentration in mental health course work is required.
• A minimum of one (1) year clinical experience is preferred.
