Qualifications

• Must graduate from an accredited nursing program and hold a CT RN license.
• De-escalation training and CPI certification within orientation period.
• Strong English communication and basic computer skills required.

Responsibilities

• Performs comprehensive assessments and reassessments of patient condition and care needs.
• Assesses and reassesses pain; educates patient and family on pain management.
• Develops and revises individualized treatment plans with patient/family input.
• Follows seven medication rights and administers psychotropic meds appropriately.
• Maintains patient safety and documents nursing processes in a timely manner.
• Demonstrates flexibility and sound judgment in priority setting and delegation.
• Creates and evaluates a teaching plan, involving family when appropriate.
• Practices autonomously per evidence-based standards and acts as a role model.
• Maintains a safe, therapeutic environment; respects privacy of psychiatric patients.
• Uses CPI techniques to manage violent situations; participates in codes and trainings.
• Collaborates with the treatment team to meet patient needs; documents interventions.
