Qualifications

• Master’s or doctoral degree in nursing from an accredited program.
• National Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner certification.
• Active, unrestricted NP/APRN license in Virginia or Maryland.
• Washington, D.C. licensure preferred.
• Prescriptive authority, if applicable.
• Professional credentials required to practice in the applicable jurisdiction.

Responsibilities

• Conducting comprehensive patient assessments and health evaluations.
• Developing individualized treatment and care plans.
• Providing diagnosis and treatment within the NP's education, certification, and scope of practice.
• Medication prescriptions and management.
• Liaison with labs and pharmacies for medication management.
• Monitoring patient progress and response to treatment.
• Providing culturally responsive, patient-centered care and education to patients and families.
• Collaborating with therapists, psychologists, social workers, counselors, and primary care providers.
• Coordinating care and making referrals when clinically indicated.
• Maintaining timely and accurate clinical documentation.

Key Clinical Responsibilities

Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner responsibilities include:

• Conducting comprehensive patient assessments and health evaluations
• Developing individualized treatment and care plans
• Providing diagnosis and treatment within the NP's education, certification, and scope of practice
• Medication prescriptions and management
• Liaison with lab and pharmacies for medication and prescription management
• Monitoring patient progress and response to treatment
• Providing appropriate follow-up careEducating patients and families regarding health conditions, treatment options, medications, wellness, and preventive care
• Collaborating with therapists, psychologists, social workers, counselors, primary care providers, and other healthcare professionals as appropriate
• Coordinating care and making appropriate referrals when clinically indicated
• Maintaining timely and accurate clinical documentation
• Providing culturally responsive, patient-centered care
• Participating in case consultation and interdisciplinary collaboration
• Practicing in accordance with applicable state laws, regulations, and professional scope‑of‑practice requirements

Required Qualifications

• Master’s or doctoral degree in nursing from an accredited nursing program
• Current national Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner certification appropriate to the clinical specialty and services provided
• Active, unrestricted Nurse Practitioner/APRN license in Virginia or Maryland
• Active license in Washington, D.C. licensure preferred
• Prescriptive authority, if applicable to the position and clinical scope of practice
• Appropriate professional credentials required to practice within the applicable jurisdiction
• Ability to provide high-quality, ethical, patient-centered care
• Strong commitment to culturally responsive and inclusive healthcare
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills

Priority consideration may be given to Nurse Practitioners licensed across two or more jurisdictions (in Washington, D.C., Maryland, and Virginia)
