Job summary

Yale NewHaven Health is seeking a Psychiatric Health Associate to support behavioral health patients on the unit. You will establish therapeutic rapport, assist with ADLs, monitor vital signs, and document patient progress under RN supervision.

Responsibilities include observing patient behavior, reporting incidents, and contributing to CQI and quality assurance efforts. Prior experience in behavioral health and a current BLS certification are preferred for this role.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in human services or related field; bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Active enrollment in a bachelor’s program in psychology or related field.
• Experience in behavioral health preferred.
• BLS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Establish and maintain a therapeutic rapport with patients and maintain appropriate boundaries.
• Assist in unit management by providing astute observations.
• Assist patients with Activities of Daily Living (ADL).
• Demonstrate ability to give and receive constructive feedback.
• Take and record vital signs, weights, and other biological needs; notify RN of abnormal findings.
• Document patient response to interventions and progress toward goals.
• Perform environmental rounds and hourly safety observations and plans.
• Participate in Unit CQI and Chart QA.
• Meet performance expectations for standards of professional behavior.
• Perform other duties to ensure smooth department operation.
