Introduction

The Department of Health Services (DHS), Wisconsin Resource Center (WRC) is recruiting for a Psychiatric Care Supervisor (PCS). This position is primarily assigned to work 2nd shift (2:00pm to 10:30pm) Monday through Friday. Additionally, this position will be scheduled to work approximately 11 weekends a year. The weekend shift will have the potential to cover 1st, 2nd and 3rd shift.

Position Summary

As the PCS, you will be responsible for providing leadership to Psychiatric Care Technicians-Advanced and other staff and will manage the operations, safety and security of the facility, units, and areas. This position is critical in creating a welcoming and respectful environment for all cultural backgrounds and all aspects of diversity and promoting wellness for all staff and residents.

Responsibilities

Salary Information

The starting pay is between $47.68 and $51.36 per hour (approximately between $99,100 and $106,800 per year), depending on qualifications, plus excellent benefits. Hours worked between 6:00pm to 6:00am will receive an $0.80 add-on per hour and employees who work weekend hours will receive an $0.80 add-on per hour for hours worked. A 12-month probationary period is required.

Pay for current state employees is based upon the rules that apply to compensation for the applicable transaction. This position is in pay schedule and range 81/33.

Job Details

All applicants who may be appointed to this position will be required to allow DHS to conduct a background check to determine whether the circumstances of any conviction may be related to the job being filled.

All appointees will be required to receive a TB test, which will be administered by WRC or medical personnel approved by the facility within 30 days of the start date.

This position has physical requirements which may include but are not limited to lifting up to 50lbs, pushing and pulling carts, bending, twisting, reaching, kneeling, stooping, standing, sitting and working on feet for extended periods of time. Applicants may be required to pass a physical evaluation to assess these requirements.

DHS does not sponsor work visas for this position, thus, in compliance with federal law, selected candidates will be required to verify eligibility to work in the United States by completing the required I-9 form upon hire. DHS is not an E-Verify employer nor a STEM-OPT eligible employer.

Requirements

This position requires the ability to drive a State vehicle. In order to become authorized to drive a State vehicle, you must meet the requirements for the State of Wisconsin Fleet Vehicle Policy, which are:

• Must have a valid driver's license.
• Must have minimum of two (2) year's non-probationary licensed driving experience with a regular (Class D) driver’s license.
• Must be 18 years of age.

Additionally, your driving record MUST NOT reflect any of the following conditions:

• Three (3) or more moving violations and/or at fault accidents in the past two (2) years.
• Operating While Intoxicated (OWI) or Driving Under the Influence (DUI) citation within the past 12 months.
• Suspension or revocation of driver's license.

Qualifications

Minimally qualified candidates will have all of the following:

• Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and meet the requirements of the State of Wisconsin Fleet Vehicle Policy** to drive a state vehicle.
• Experience providing psychiatric care or security to inmates or patients with behavior disorders, mental illness, or developmental disabilities.
• Training or experience working with a diverse population, cultural competence, and creating an inviting and respectful work environment.

Well-qualified Applicants Will Also Have The Following

• Experience working in a leadership or supervisory role (e.g., monitoring personnel workload, resolving conflict, conducting performance evaluations, coaching, mentoring or training other staff, etc.).
