Job summary

Central Florida Behavioral Hospital in Orlando, FL is hiring a Registered Nurse to provide care for psychiatric patients across age groups. You will perform nursing assessments, administer medications, and participate in crisis intervention and milieu management to ensure patient safety.

Responsibilities include supervising licensed staff, contributing to treatment plans, documenting care, and recognizing signs of mental health and chemical dependency disorders.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of accredited school of nursing (Associate's Degree) required. BSN preferred.
  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Florida required.
  • Minimum of one (1) year related experience required. Psychiatric nursing experience is preferred.
  • Current Handle with Care, Verbal De-escalation and CPR Certification required (can be obtained upon hire)

  • Provide leadership and direction to licensed vocational nurses, psychiatric technicians, and counselors. Direct milieu management.
  • Provide assessment of patients’ psychiatric and medical status.
  • Contribute to treatment plan as a member of interdisciplinary team.

  • Recognize signs and symptoms of mental health disorders and chemical dependency disorders and apply/utilize appropriate treatment interventions.

Position Summary

The Registered Nurse will provide nursing care for psychiatric patients, including child, adolescent, geriatric and chemical dependency patients using the nursing process. Duties include: assess mental health needs, develop nursing diagnoses, identify outcomes, plan and evaluate nursing care; administer and/or monitor the effects and side effects of medications and treatments ordered by a physician; to ensure safety and provide milieu management and crisis intervention strategies.

  • Hours: Day Shift: 7 AM - 7 PM / Night Shift: 7 PM - 7 AM (Rotating Weekends Required)
