Job summary

Central Florida Behavioral Hospital in Orlando seeks a Registered Nurse to deliver psychiatric nursing care across child, adolescent, geriatric and adult populations. You will use the nursing process, ensure safety, and provide milieu management and crisis intervention as needed.

Responsibilities include leading clinical staff, assessing patient status, contributing to treatment plans, documenting care, and recognizing psychiatric/chemical dependency symptoms to apply appropriate interventions.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of accredited school of nursing (Associate's Degree) required.
  • Current Florida RN license required.
  • CPR certification required.
  • Psychiatric nursing experience preferred.
  • Day Shift hours: 7 AM - 7 PM.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership to licensed staff and direct milieu management.
  • Assess patients’ psychiatric and medical status.
  • Contribute to interdisciplinary treatment planning.
  • Document nursing care and patient response to treatment.
  • Recognize signs of mental health and chemical dependency disorders and apply appropriate interventions.

Central Florida Behavioral Hospital offers a full continuum of care including inpatient treatment services for children, adolescents and adults; and partial hospitalization, intensive out-patient and ECT services for adults.

Position Summary

The Registered Nurse will provide nursing care for psychiatric patients, including child, adolescent, geriatric and chemical dependency patients using the nursing process. Duties include: assess mental health needs, develop nursing diagnoses, identify outcomes, plan and evaluate nursing care; administer and/or monitor the effects and side effects of medications and treatments ordered by a physician; to ensure safety and provide milieu management and crisis intervention strategies.

Job Duties / Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership and direction to licensed vocational nurses, psychiatric technicians, and counselors. Direct milieu management.
  • Provide assessment of patients’ psychiatric and medical status.
  • Contribute to treatment plan as a member of interdisciplinary team.
  • Document nursing care, treatment, and patient’s response to treatment
  • Recognize signs and symptoms of mental health disorders and chemical dependency disorders and apply/utilize appropriate treatment interventions.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of accredited school of nursing (Associate's Degree) required. BSN preferred.
  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Florida required.
  • Minimum of one (1) year related experience required. Psychiatric nursing experience is preferred.

  • Hours: Day Shift: 7 AM - 7 PM
  • Must be available to attend the full hospital and departmental orientations: Week 1: M-F 8 AM - 4 PM / Week 2: Tu & Wed 9 AM - 4 PM
