Job description

PST Specialist

Location: Erie Family Health Center Waukegan, 2323 Grand Ave., Waukegan, IL 60085

Work Schedule: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday 08:00am-5:00pm and Wednesday 9:30am-6:30pm

Job Responsibilities

• Perform blood collections by venipuncture and capillary techniques for all age groups
• Collect specimens for drug screens, paternity tests, alcohol tests, etc.
• Perform data entry of patient information accurately and in a timely manner
• Process billing information and collect payments as necessary
• Prepare all collected specimens for testing and analysis
• Maintain patient and specimen information logs
• Provide superior customer service to all patients
• Perform administrative and clerical duties as necessary
• Travel to additional sites when needed

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED or equivalent
• Phlebotomy certification or completed training program or 3 months or more experience as a phlebotomist

Preferred Qualifications

• 2 years or more of phlebotomy experience with adults and children
• 1 year pediatric experience

Additional Job Standards

• In lieu of work experience, a Phlebotomy certification or completed training program must come from an accredited agency
• Proven track record in providing exceptional customer service
• Strong communication skills; both written and verbal
• Ability to work independently or in a team environment
• Comfortable working under minimal supervision
• Reliable transportation
• Flexibility to work overtime as needed
• Ability to pass a standardized color blindness test
• This position requires full vaccination per applicable law (proof of 2‑dose Varicella or titer, 2‑dose MMR or titer, Tdap once in lifetime, Td within the last 10 years, TB screening within 12 months of hire, Flu vaccination between October 1 and April 1, and completion of a 3‑dose Hepatitis B series or positive titer or medical/religious accommodation)

Phlebotomist will work in either a Patient Service Center or Client office. In this role you will provide exceptional customer service, perform skilled specimen collections, and be the face of the company. You will also have opportunities for continuous growth within the organization.

Pay Range: $17.50 - $24.50 per hour

Phlebotomist’s may be eligible for participation in the PST Incentive Plan, which pays a quarterly bonus based on performance metrics.
