Job summary

Birch Bay Retirement Village is seeking a PSS in training to provide hands-on care and support to residents, under supervision. The role involves coordinating with nursing and support staff to implement the resident service plan and to report changes in condition as needed.

The ideal candidate has 1+ year in geriatrics, familiarity with memory loss care, and holds a PSS certification or is within 120 days of recertification; basic computer skills and BLS training within 120 days are preferred.

Summary:

The PSS (in training) is responsible for the provision of hands on care and services to meet identified resident needs. This includes coordination with other CNA/CRMA/PSS staff, implementation of the interdisciplinary service plan for each resident, reporting changes to resident condition and documenting resident physical ability to perform self-care. The PSS observes, documents, and reports all aspects of resident activities of daily living to ensure appropriate level of care and placement. The PSS works with the assistance of a preceptor/mentor, the direction of the RCC or Quality Care Coordinator and under the supervision and guidance of the RN to maintain the highest levels of physical, psychological, social and spiritual well-being in accordance with the resident service plan and current standards of care.

Requirements

Education, Training or Certifications Required:

Physical Demands:

Able to stand/work for most of an 8-12 hour shift. Must be able to bend/lift 25 - 55 lbs (assisting residents in and out of bed, etc.)
