Job summary

Ford Motor Company in the Detroit area seeks a Logistics/Operations Engineer to support the PS&L team within FCSD. You will design layouts, improve processes, and implement advanced technologies in an on-site operations environment.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with vendors and facility management to design/install solutions at Ford distribution operations.
  • Work cross-functionally with purchasing, finance, manufacturing, and labor affairs.
  • Perform internal purchasing functions to generate requisitions, approvals, POs, and invoices.
  • Utilize AutoCAD to design layouts or adjust existing CAD drawings.
  • Identify deficiencies in material flow; provide data-based recommendations.
  • Use SAP EWM and BI data to pull datasets and visualize insights for PS&L.
  • Benchmark best-in-class OEMs; build business cases and present to FCSD leadership.
  • Apply project management to meet deadlines and budgets in a fast-paced setting.
  • Be onsite 3-4 days/week at a metro Detroit PS&L facility; travel as needed.

In this position...

In this role, you will be supporting the engineering services team within Parts Supply & Logistics (PS&L) within Ford’s Customer Service Division (FCSD). In this role you will be tasked with supporting PS&L’s operations network by (1) continuously improving facility layout/design working collaboratively with plant leadership (2) researching best in class operational practices, developing strategies and business cases (3) executing/implementing approved continuous improvement strategies/projects. (4) supporting implementation of advanced technology solutions in an operations environment.

Responsibilities

What you'll do...

  • Work collaboratively with 3rd party vendors and facility management to design and install solutions at Ford distribution operations.

  • Work cross functionally with other Ford organizations such as purchasing, finance, manufacturing, and labor affairs.

  • Perform internal purchasing functions to generate requisitions and gain necessary approvals to execute POs, process invoices, and reconcile discrepancies.

  • Utilize AutoCAD to design new layouts or make adjustments to existing facility CAD drawings.

  • Identify deficiencies in existing material flow and storage strategies, provide recommendations based on data supported analysis.

  • Utilize SAP EWM and available BI data to pull critical data sets, performing data visualization to draw key inferences for key PS&L stakeholders.

  • Assist in benchmarking best in world OEMs, generate detailed business cases based on solution recommendations, and convert findings into presentations that can be shared with FCSD executive leadership.

  • Leverage project management skills to hit deadlines, stay within budget, and overcome obstacles in a high paced environment.

  • Candidates should expect to be onsite at a metro Detroit PS&L operations facility 3-4 days per week, with locations varying day to day.

  • Candidates should expect periodic travel to North American PS&L operations facilities and to travel for benchmarking with other OEMs and equipment vendors.

This position is a salary grade 6, 7 or 8 and ranges from $72,480-$162,120.
