Job summary

The University of Texas at Austin’s Dell Medical School is seeking a Provider Coding Education Specialist to educate clinicians on coding guidelines and lead provider audits to ensure accuracy and regulatory compliance.

Reporting to the Clinical Revenue Cycle Manager, you will develop training materials, deliver sessions, monitor audit outcomes, and partner with clinical teams to optimize reimbursement and provider performance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration or related field.
• Certification in at least one: CCS (AHIMA) or CPC-I, CPC, CPMA, CPPM, CDEO, CPCO (AAPC).
• 3 years of relevant experience in medical coding, auditing, or coding education within a healthcare setting.
• Strong knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS and other coding systems and guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Plans and executes annual audits of coding practices across departments.
• Develops and delivers educational programs and materials on coding principles and updates.
• Stays updated on changes in coding regulations to keep materials current.
• Collaborates with revenue cycle and clinical teams to ensure compliant coding practices.
• Serves as a resource and analyzes trends using audit data to drive improvements.
