Job summary

Motor City Metal Fab is a fast-growing, family-owned precision fabrication shop in Southeast Michigan. We’re seeking a Prototype Welder / Fabricator to help bring new designs to life.

You’ll work on one-off parts, short runs, and custom assemblies where precision and craftsmanship matter. You will read prints, interpret weld symbols and CAD data, and perform MIG and TIG welding on steel, stainless, and aluminum.

Qualifications

• 3+ years MIG/TIG welding experience in prototyping or job-shop settings.
• Ability to read blueprints and weld symbols, and interpret GD&T.
• Strong attention to detail with high workmanship pride.
• Skilled in fabrication of steel, stainless, and aluminum parts.

Responsibilities

• Fabricate and weld prototype and low-volume parts from prints and CAD data.
• Perform MIG and TIG welding on steel, stainless, and aluminum.
• Cut, fit, tack, weld, and finish components to tight tolerances.
• Read blueprints, weld symbols, and GD&T; self-inspect work.
• Assist with fixture setup and prototype development as needed.
