Kansas City National Security Campus is seeking a technically proficient professional to perform intermediate to complex engineering tasks, gather data, conduct tests, set up equipment, build prototype units, and maintain standards and equipment.

The role involves testing breadboard and prototype circuits, bench and field deployment, and potential travel to remote sites. Citizenship and DOE clearance considerations apply as needed.

Qualifications

• 4 years relevant experience or 2+ years experience in a related technical role plus 2-year technical degree or 4-year technical degree.
• Ability to travel as determined by the needs of the business.
• Ability to work remote, hybrid, or on-site as directed by management and is determined by the needs of the business.
• United States Citizenship and ability to obtain a U.S. DOE security clearance (some positions require additional DOE designations).

Responsibilities

• Sets up test equipment, monitors and measures instruments. Performs testing on breadboard circuitry, prototype units, production units, and electronic circuitry.
• Support consists of both technical bench and field set‑up, deployment, retrieval and repairs, with travel to remote site areas as required.
• Builds prototype units for testing and experimentation and makes samples for further analysis.
• Conducts tests and experiments with new materials, equipment, and processes to develop data for specification call‑out or to determine suitability of a material for particular applications.
• Gathers and evaluates data for validity, accuracy and completeness.
• Locates and corrects malfunctions in product and testing equipment.
• Performs post‑mortem analyses to determine exact reasons for failure.
• Performs chemical processing and mechanical evaluations as applicable.
• Records laboratory notes and other details, as specified by engineering personnel.
• Supports activities identified by Management/Engineering to maintain equipment in a reliable efficient manner.
