Job summary

PTM Corporation, located in Fair Haven, MI, is seeking a Prototype Press Operator for the 2nd shift (Monday–Friday; 4:30 PM–4:30 AM). This full-time role focuses on setting up and operating hydraulic and mechanical presses to produce high-quality prototype stampings from high-strength metals.

Responsibilities include die setup, tooling, and process troubleshooting to meet customer specifications and production goals.

Qualifications

• Must have 2+ years of press operator experience in manufacturing.
• Experience with prototype metal stamping and hydraulic press operation preferred.
• Ability to read blueprints/manufacturing drawings.
• Experience setting up and troubleshooting dies.

Responsibilities

• Safely set up and operate hydraulic and mechanical presses.
• Assemble/install/align two-piece dies per specifications.
• Perform die tryouts within target setup times.
• Spot tooling and adjust dies as needed.
• Develop tooling concepts and blank layouts.
• Cut blanks for prototype tooling.
• Produce stampings meeting specs and production goals.
• Troubleshoot tooling, presses, and production issues and suggest improvements.
• Inspect finished parts for quality standards.
• Identify out-of-tolerance conditions and adjust machines/dies.
• Coordinate with supervisors and team to maintain schedules.
• Maintain a clean, safe work environment.
