Job summary

Weiss-Aug, a leader in precision manufacturing, is seeking a passionate Prototype Machinist at our Fairfield, NJ location. You will produce high-quality prototype parts using manual and CNC equipment, set up lathes, mills, and wire EDM, and collaborate with engineering and product development teams on new devices and components.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years in prototype or tool-room shops, strong GD&T and blueprint reading skills, and a proven ability to troubleshoot tooling and programming

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; technical training preferred.
• Minimum 5 years in prototype/tool room or precision machining.
• Strong experience with manual tool room equipment and CNC mills/lathes.
• Experience with Wire EDM and/or sinker EDM preferred.
• Ability to read blueprints, GD&T, and engineering data sheets.

Responsibilities

• Manufacture precision prototype and development components from drawings or CAD data.
• Set up and operate manual lathes, Bridgeport mills, surface grinders, and related tooling.
• Set up and program CNC mills and lathes; edit programs as needed.
• Troubleshoot machining, tooling, and programming issues to meet delivery goals.
• Collaborate with engineers to develop practical machining solutions for prototype parts.
• Maintain tooling, fixtures, equipment, and documentation; ensure clean, safe workspace.
