Job summary

SureFire LLC is seeking a Prototype Machinist I in Fountain Valley, CA. The role focuses on fabricating prototype components and assemblies, interpreting engineering drawings, and meeting tight dimensional specs using manual and CNC tools.

You will collaborate with engineers, perform quality inspections with calipers and micrometers, and contribute to lean manufacturing and 6S in a fast-paced shop.

Qualifications

• Experience operating CNC machines and programming knowledge.
• Basic understanding of materials and their machining properties.
• Prior experience in prototype or product development environments.
• Knowledge of safety standards and best practices in machine shops.
• Experience in an ISO-certified company is preferred.
• Knowledge of Mastercam and SolidWorks is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Operate manual and CNC machine tools such as mills, lathes, and grinders to fabricate prototype parts.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications to determine machining requirements.
• Set up machines, select appropriate tooling, and adjust machine controls to achieve precise dimensions and finishes.
• Perform quality inspections on machined parts using measuring instruments like calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
• Collaborate with engineers and designers to discuss prototype requirements, provide feedback, and suggest improvements.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment, adhering to all safety protocols and company policies.
