Job summary

Veeco Instruments Inc. in Plainview, NY is seeking a Machinist to support engineering development and daily lab operations. The role involves fabricating, assembling, and testing complex mechanical assemblies in a team-driven environment.

Qualifications

Minimum 2 years hands-on experience in mechanical assembly, machine shop operations, equipment maintenance, or prototype fabrication.
High school diploma or GED required; associate degree or technical certification preferred.
Experience reading engineering drawings, CAD models, schematics, and technical specifications.

Responsibilities

Fabricate, modify, assemble, and rebuild complex mechanical assemblies to support engineering development.
Operate mills, lathes, drill presses, grinders, saws, and other tools to manufacture prototype components.
Work from engineering drawings and CAD models to fabricate, assemble, and test hardware.
Inspect components to ensure conformance to design requirements and quality standards.
Support prototyping, testing, and process development activities.
Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, and system issues with appropriate tools.
Document fabrication processes, assembly procedures, and test results.
Collaborate with engineers to develop innovative solutions and improve performance.
