Job summary

AeroSpec, Inc. is seeking an experienced Prototype Machinist to join our precision shop and support prototype and short-run builds.

You will plan, fabricate, assemble, and fine-tune components, fixtures, tooling, and machine mechanisms for challenging tooling and machining tasks. The role requires 8+ years as a Prototype Machinist or Tool Maker, expertise with manual machines, CNC mills, GD&T, and blueprint interpretation.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience as Prototype Machinist or Tool Maker.
• Proficient with manual mills, lathes, surface grinders and related equipment.
• Read blueprints and interpret specs, tolerances, and GD&T.
• Perform in-process inspections with hand tools.
• Knowledge of CNC toolroom mills is a plus.
• Background in sheet metal fabrication is a plus.
• Experience building functional machines and mechanisms is a plus.
• CAD/CAM knowledge: AutoCAD/SolidWorks/SurfCAM is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Join AeroSpec's established precision prototype and short-run machine shop team.
• Plan, fabricate, assemble, and fine-tune components, fixtures, tooling, and machine mechanisms.
• Support highly automated production and test equipment builds.
• Collaborate with Engineering and Manufacturing to solve tooling and DFM challenges.
• Work full-time, first shift, 7:00 a.m.-3:30 p.m., with overtime opportunities.
