Job summary

Powerex-Iwata Air Technology Inc. is seeking a motivated Laboratory Technician in Mount Juliet, TN to support R&D and fabrication activities. You will monitor testing equipment, read schematics, and help develop prototypes using 3D printing and plasma cutting.

Collaborate with engineers to set up fabrication equipment like lathe and mill, document results, and ensure product reliability while upholding safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED, some secondary schooling preferred.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.

Responsibilities

• Conduct testing on air compressors following established procedures and protocols
• Perform teardowns of air compressor components for inspection and analysis
• Document findings accurately and thoroughly in test result reports
• Read and interpret schematics and technical drawings to guide product development and testing
• Develop and optimize 3D printing parameters and plasma cutting settings for various materials
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand project requirements and specifications
• Set up lathe, mill, and other fabrication equipment to produce prototype parts with precision
• Work closely with NPD engineers to understand design requirements and provide input on manufacturability and feasibility
• Troubleshoot issues that may arise during prototyping and/or teardown inspection and propose effective solutions
• Maintain a safe and organized work environment in the machine shop
• Adhere to and enforce safety guidelines in laboratory and machine shop area
• Perform preventative maintenance and repair of lab and machine shop equipment
