Job summary

Ellaway Blues Consulting is seeking a Prototype Technician to support the development and scale-up of innovative manufacturing processes within a state-of-the-art production environment. The role involves hands-on work with equipment, materials, and emerging technologies to bring concepts to reality.

You will operate pilot plant equipment, handle materials, and collect data while collaborating with engineering teams to optimize processes.

Qualifications

  • 1+ year in manufacturing, pilot plant, lab or production environment.
  • 1+ year operating manufacturing equipment via HMI.
  • Experience in metal, ceramics, powder processing, casting, machining, heat treatment, or surface finishing.
  • Exposure to pilot-scale operations, process development or R&D activities.
  • Experience handling specialized or air-sensitive materials.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain pilot plant equipment used in prototyping and process development activities.
  • Prepare, handle, and process raw materials, powders, and samples per procedures and safety standards.
  • Perform measurements and collect process data using lab and production instrumentation.
  • Support pilot-scale trials and document test procedures, observations, and results.
  • Collaborate with engineering and technical teams to assist process optimization and troubleshooting.
  • Maintain accurate physical and electronic records related to testing activities and performance.
  • Ensure work areas remain clean, organized, and compliant with safety expectations.
  • Partner with EHS personnel to uphold safety standards and promote a strong safety culture.
  • Provide occasional support to broader manufacturing operations as needed.
  • Assist with additional technical projects and operational initiatives as assigned.

Responsibilities:
  • Operate and maintain pilot plant equipment used in prototyping and process development activities.
  • Prepare, handle, and process raw materials, powders, and samples in accordance with established procedures and safety standards.
  • Perform measurements and collect process data using laboratory and production instrumentation.
  • Support pilot-scale experimental trials and accurately document test procedures, observations, and results.
  • Collaborate with engineering and technical teams to assist with process optimization and troubleshooting efforts.
  • Maintain accurate physical and electronic records related to testing activities and operational performance.
  • Ensure work areas remain clean, organized, and compliant with workplace safety expectations.

Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience within a manufacturing, pilot plant, laboratory, or production environment.
  • 1+ years of hands-on experience operating manufacturing or processing equipment utilizing HMI interfaces.
  • Experience within metal, ceramics, powder processing, casting, machining, heat treatment, and/or surface finishing environments.
  • Exposure to pilot-scale operations, process development, or research and development activities.
  • Experience handling specialized or air-sensitive materials.
