Job summary

Supply Chain Resources Group, Inc. is seeking an experienced prototype technician to commission, operate, and maintain benchtop fabrication equipment.

You will turn CAD models into physical hardware with tight tolerances, while keeping the lab organized and ready for daily engineering use. You will work under engineering leadership to manufacture parts, perform post-processing, and assemble prototype systems.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years hands-on experience in mechanical fabrication, prototyping, or related hardware roles.
  • Demonstrated skill in commissioning and maintaining benchtop fabrication equipment (3D printers, CNC, laser cutters).
  • Strong hand-tool proficiency and precision assembly with small parts and tight tolerances.
  • Ability to read mechanical drawings, GD&T callouts, and 3D CAD models.
  • Knowledge of plastics and metals used in prototyping and assembly.
  • Highly organized with attention to detail and lab cleanliness.
  • Safety-conscious and able to manage multiple tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Commission, set up, and bring online new benchtop fabrication equipment (3D printers, CNC, laser cutters).
  • Own routine maintenance and consumables management to prevent downtime.
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues, coordinate service calls, and maintain logs.
  • Evaluate and recommend new tools, materials, and processes to expand lab capability.
  • Fabricate mechanical parts using additive, subtractive, and manual methods to spec.
  • Perform post-processing: support removal, sanding, bonding, heat-setting inserts, painting.
  • Execute precision hand assembly of prototypes including small enclosures and fasteners.
  • Build and maintain jigs, fixtures, and test rigs for assembly and validation.
  • Read mechanical drawings and GD&T to accurately perform tasks.
