Job summary

The Broad Institute, Center for the Development of Therapeutics (CDoT) in Cambridge, MA, is seeking a PhD-level protein scientist to advance drug discovery through recombinant protein production, purification, and structural studies. You will work across biology, chemistry, and analytics teams to translate biology into actionable targets and leads.

Responsibilities include cloning and expressing proteins, purifying them with chromatography, and contributing to crystallography and biophysical

Qualifications

  • PhD in biophysics/biochemistry/molecular biology/structural biology with 0+ years in industry or academia.
  • Expertise in recombinant protein purification using affinity, ion exchange, and size exclusion.
  • Experience cloning and expressing proteins in various vectors and cell systems.
  • Experience with protein characterization techniques and biophysical binding studies.
  • Experience with protein crystallography and data processing is a plus.
  • Experience with protein biophysical characterization (ITC, DSC, SPR, NMR) is a plus.
  • Proven ability to collaborate with project teams, customers, or vendors.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute strategies to clone and express proteins in diverse systems.
  • Purify proteins using standard chromatography and analytical methods.
  • Produce protein crystal structures from crystallization to refinement.
  • Design and produce protein constructs independently and efficiently.
  • Interpret results and propose follow-up studies.
  • Troubleshoot scientific problems related to protein production.
  • Operate and maintain lab equipment including purification systems.
  • Investigate new technologies in protein expression and purification.
  • Document work and present results to cross-functional teams.
