Job description

We are seeking a Protein Scientist for a full-time, on-site position in Boston, MA. This is a hands‑on protein production role, with approximately 80% of time spent in the laboratory.

You will independently execute assigned protein production projects, from expression and extraction through purification, quality control, and data analysis. Given a defined production objective, you should be comfortable organizing the work, carrying out established workflows, troubleshooting routine issues, and documenting results with minimal day-to-day supervision.

Responsibilities

• Independently execute protein production and purification workflows to meet assigned project requirements.
• Operate FPLC systems, including method setup, purification runs, fraction collection, and routine troubleshooting.
• Perform transformations, protein expression, and protein extraction.
• Prepare buffers and perform cell disruption using sonication and microfluidization.
• Perform protein electrophoresis, Western blotting, and other quality control assays.
• Analyze results, maintain accurate laboratory records, and communicate progress and technical issues.

Required qualifications

• Hands‑on experience in protein production and purification.
• Demonstrated ability to operate FPLC systems independently, such as ÄKTA or Bio‑Rad systems.
• Ability to take an assigned production objective through execution, troubleshooting, and analysis with minimal supervision.
• Strong laboratory organization, documentation, and data analysis skills.
• Familiarity with Bio‑Rad NGC chromatography systems.

Education and experience

A degree in a relevant scientific discipline. Typical qualifying backgrounds include:
