A prominent staffing firm is looking for an Associate with expertise in protein purification and mass spectrometry. The ideal candidate will hold a PhD or BS/MS with extensive experience and is passionate about supporting drug discovery. Responsibilities include purifying and validating proteins, and developing strategies for protein analysis. This is a full-time science role located in Boston, Massachusetts.
Qualifications
PhD with 2–4 years or BS/MS with 6–12 years of relevant experience.
Experience in industry with biophysical techniques.
Familiar with the drug discovery pipeline.
Responsibilities

Responsibilities
Purify high-quality recombinant cytosolic, secreted, membrane, and refolded proteins.
Validate proteins through quality control experiments such as HPLC, mass spectrometry, binding, and enzymatic assays.
Perform biophysical analysis of proteins and/or protein complexes using mass spectrometry and other analytical techniques.
Develop and optimize protein purification strategies and biophysical methods to support drug discovery programs.
Share experimental results in team meetings and advise on best practices for generating protein reagents used in biophysical characterization, structural biology, assay development, screening, hit identification, and immunization.
Required Qualifications
PhD in biochemistry, chemistry, molecular & cellular biology, biophysics, or a related field with 2–4 years of experience; or BS/MS with 6–12 years of relevant experience, including at least 4 years in industry.
Hands-on experience with mass spectrometry instruments and their maintenance, along with other biophysical techniques.
Strong expertise using AKTA purification systems and a solid understanding of modern protein purification techniques.
Excellent attention to detail, ability to manage multiple priorities, and a passion for continuous learning.
Preferred Qualifications
Proficiency with the Waters BioAccord mass spectrometer
Experience with biophysical techniques such as mass photometry, thermal shift assays, fluorescence spectroscopy, etc.
Understanding of upstream and downstream processes including molecular biology, cell culture, protein expression, structural biology, and assay development.
Familiarity with the drug discovery pipeline and how protein reagents contribute to various stages.
Ability to recognize critical path activities and prioritize resources to support project advancement.
