Nationwide Mutual Insurance Company is seeking an Armed Protective Services Officer to patrol Nationwide facilities and campuses, respond to emergencies, and enforce safety policies. This role requires vigilance, clear communication, and the ability to manage high-stress situations.
You will conduct armed patrols, investigate incidents, and prepare reports while supporting life safety procedures. Relevant training and background checks are required; overtime and non-standard hours may apply.

Providing a safe, secure environment for our workforce and visitors is essential at Nationwide. Our Armed Protective Services Officers patrol and respond to incidents in Nationwide owned buildings and surrounding campuses. Our Protective Services Officers assist associates with Protective Services and safety-related issues. If you are safety focused, an effective communicator, detail oriented and ready to serve and protect our associates and the public, we want to know more about you! As an Armed Protective Services Officer, you will contribute to the secure and safe environment at Nationwide. You will conduct armed patrols of the facilities and report and/or take action to correct or prevent violations of the company protective services policy. We’ll count on you to proactively investigate crimes and unusual, suspicious, or dangerous incidents and resolve these situations. Should the need arise, you’ll execute life safety procedures to protect the lives of associates in various emergency situations.
Reports to Supervisor, Armed Protective Services. This is an individual contributor role.
Education: High school degree required. Bachelor or technical school degree is preferred.
Experience: Typically, one - three years of related Protective Services experience, law enforcement or military experience desired.

Overtime Eligibility: Eligible (Non-Exempt). Working Conditions: Work is often conducted outdoors in varying weather conditions. The standard workday is eight hours, which includes a paid lunch period. Associate is required to work the specific shift designated at the time of hire: first, second, or third shift. Must be able and/or available to work non-standard hours, including overtime, as needed. Must have a valid driver’s license with satisfactory driving record in accordance with Nationwide standards. Must have adequate vision (with or without corrective lenses) to safely use a firearm and perform other essential duties, as well as sufficient hearing to detect conversations, sirens, and radio communications. Background Check: A criminal check will be done annually for all Protective Services associates. A Motor Vehicle report will be conducted annually.
