Job summary

The Oregon Department of Human Services is seeking an Adult Protective Service Specialist to protect older adults and adults with disabilities from abuse and neglect. You will conduct intakes, investigations, and risk management under the Aging and People with Disabilities program.

Responsibilities include home visits, protective services planning, coordinating with law enforcement, and providing intervention and prevention services as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in human, social, behavioral or criminal sciences and two years human service, law enforcement or investigative experience
• Associate's Degree in human, social, behavioral or criminal sciences and four years human service, law enforcement or investigative experience
• Three years professional level experience related to the position may substitute for the Bachelor's degree; 18 months for an Associates.

Responsibilities

• Provide protective services to older adults and adults with physical disabilities within Aging and People with Disabilities’ jurisdiction to investigate
• Conduct intakes of abuse as indicated by Oregon Administrative Rule; complete investigations and risk management
• Provide prevention, protection, and intervention for at-risk individuals; conduct home visits; coordinate with law enforcement and community partners
• Develop and manage intervention plans, monitor risk, and testify in court when needed
