Job summary

Oregon Department of Human Services seeks an Adult Protective Service Specialist to safeguard vulnerable adults by assessing abuse and neglect and coordinating protective services. You will conduct intakes, investigations, and risk management for older adults and adults with disabilities.

The role includes home visits, collaboration with law enforcement, and developing intervention plans to ensure safety and well-being.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in the human, social, behavioral or criminal sciences and two years human service, law enforcement or investigative experience.
• An Associate’s Degree in the human, social, behavioral or criminal sciences and four years human service, law enforcement or investigative experience.
• Three years professional level experience may substitute for the Bachelor’s degree; 18 months for an Associate’s.

Responsibilities

• Conduct screening interviews by phone or in-person with victims or witnesses.
• Investigate complaints of abuse, neglect, or self-neglect and plan investigations.
• Conduct home visits to assess living conditions and safety.
• Refer to law enforcement when appropriate.
• Develop intervention plans and coordinate services in community care systems.
• Provide investigative information and testify in court when needed.
